Yeah, the nuke atleast makes it somewhat intresting when you are sitting behind a huge wall of barricades.

The only soultion _if_ he would remove the nuke is that he removes the engi.
Nuke and engi are like brothers, one gone, both gone.

In DOTD 3 there was no engineer, bt the Demoman was THE MAN!

with a mana glitch that was giving you mad regeneration, you could put enough satchels and claymores and shooting your rocket launcher that you could survive all the waves... it was a HUGE job for the demoman, but without the nukes, it was fairly easy... since version 4 introduced the engy and nukes, the demoman barely became a support role....

Well, not necessarily removing the Engi, but at least his abilty to build barricades and towers. Which would, again, result in other things.
DotD would alter extremely with that.
It would actually become NotD2 or something similar.

Updated the Update Centre a little.

geez, the operative skills gonna become a pain! ^^

anyway, from looking on his skills i think another active spell is missing. furthermore it should probably be an attack against strong/boss units - no mass destructor spell. because the TO should be more of a versatile soldier, right?. something like Nitrogen Overdose for example - deals damage and lets the target not allow to move for some time. maybe also makes the target outraged (bonus damage) so this spell has also its negatives...

the anti boss/strong is a good idea indeed: "burn bullet" or something like that who make the unit take big dmg and then some dmg with time.
another idea is to make operative better vs infections and fracture (more resistance and if he infected or fractured, infection/fracture's time is reduce for him.

i tried night of the dead 2 yeah it is indeed very fun but then the game takes too long to load and the objective system is not very clear. it requires teamwork and other stuff..... atleast we get to run around and stuff right? quest mode is indeed more fun than just defending..........

when i host DOTD deathmatch ... i get like mostly noobs joining and they leave within 2 minutes after the game started >_<

A new terrain is in in work. That's what I've already got:

I think I did a well job :p

Not only the terrain will change. The players will also have more possibilities to interact with the area.
Ammunition and supply stashes are hidden all arround the map, preferably in buildings like a warehouse, a big store or a libary, depots, the church area, etc.

Some small areas will only be accessable for higher level parties.

But the terrain is not the only one which will be new ..

I totally agree with you at this point.

I also already suggested changing the weapon system into a more realistic one like the one you mentioned, to s3rius. But we didnt find a way to do that.

We would have to make an own model for each weapontype,... Afaik there is no other way. Doing it per JASS doesn't work, or at least we couldn't find out how to.

Does Afterlife do it via modelchanging?

maybe for veteran and very old school player you can make (i dont know if its possible Razz) an option at begin to chose the old or new map.

those are always the first places i look for ammo, those librarians will never let the undead hordes touch those books, the illeterate are not permitted into the premises of such a place! kill them all!

and churches, we all know that there is a LOT of priests that have some "interesting" personalities... they'd never allow someone who can still walk after death to enter the premises of a church (cuz dead bodies come into chuches, but they're not walking into them Razz ) just think about how Hellsing dealt with the undead, those Vatican forces were real maniacs! ^_^

yeah i know, i cutted a bit in your post, but it makes it more entertaining ^_^

There would be one way to implement that. I'd have to create something like a maze-builder that creates all terrain, doodats, ect via triggers. But that would result in an insane amound of work and a 2nd loading time to create the actual terrain.

Those places are the last bastions where man can find shelter. Naturally resistance will also stash supplies in hope to survive or overcome the plague. Those places are also needed since the new map is larger than the old one. Supplies are scattered even more. A few secure places to get the most important..

The church under control of Iscariots lunatics would be a funny addition, har har. Somewhere a priest named Anderson roams arround stabbing zombies and the faithless Very Happy

well.. i dont know.. i thought that the new map will have mission and other stuff.. completely new terrain or something like that.. but.. the only difference i see are graphics.. and.. dont know.. its the same kind of game always, barricade all the way in, and then, stay there, get some items , and then, the big bang ! after a boss... if u could implement missions, or something like a more cooperative game, and a little of army style, change the game style a little..

Well, I'd like to keep some of the DotD-style, which just is the barricading and camping. But I got some ideas to "force" the players out of their base (no, not with more nukes)

You can set enemy units on fire with the flare, and sometimes they
glitch stuck, like we use it on "Fatty" and he will get stuck, for a
free kill.




Another problem is, with satchels [I'm
not sure about claymores and other stuff yet], but say a ton of Zombies
walk on a satchel, and you detonate it, the satchel will talk "Take
that Zach!" or one of your phrases.



Last, is when the Nuke goes off, satchels in the nuke will slowly die, claymores and other ground explosives however, will not.





Hope I helped, anything else you need, I'm sure I can handle it.






Also, could I make some suggestions?



Add more of the phrases they say when you kill lots of Zombies.


"Ha ha Zach just got owned!"
"Wow that was a lot of Z's!"





You should make little commands / abilities, so when you click the ability, your person says something, such as:


"Help!"
"Re-enforce left / right flank!"
"I'll cover you!"

Just little things would make the game so much better Smile

choosing, you don't know how much this would help. I've picked the
wrong person so many times, and have had to remake.

The Unique
item, I forgot the name, it's the one where you click on it, and it
heals 75 mana, make that 75% of your mana, 75 mana, just isn't worth

Ok now what I have to add, Make some different terrain, that SAME old map is kinda getting boring.


Add another character, like a "Survivalist / Technition".

Skills:
[Everything is Inventory Based]
Create Ammo- Can make ammunition crates, each level decreases cooldown
Make Barricades- Basically makes the Item Barricade.



Other Stuff:
Sprint cooldown decreased
Slightly less health and damage [relies on abilities]



Working on the person, let me edit.








MAKE A PARK, YOU DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE WANTED A FOREST TO WONDER IN, IT WOULD BE SOO AWESOME!!

A Dark forest, with some tactical advantages...

I really like the new map picture you posted on page 7. In that green area, add trees, make a little tactical advantage. And item stashes would be nice, secret items and interactisno around the map, would be indeed, awesome.

You should really make a team of workers here, someone for terrain, someone for triggers, and such, i am VERY good with terrain, and adding the perfict touch with doodads. If your willing to hand over a copy of the map to me, I can edit it, add tons of terrain and stuff, [i wont touch anything else], and i can send it back. And see how you like it.

O.0 I've never seen this. Even after 3-4 flares fatty was slow, but not bugged .. can you explain it a bit more detailed or, even better, give me a replay of a game where you did it?

Well, there's already a big load of abilities, so also adding this might be overkill, but I'm planning on adding random chat with such phrases.

Due to the game engine that's quite hard to do. I'm working a lot with upgrades, which are pretty tricky because you can't remove them anymore. That's the same reason why there won't be a "-restart" command

The +75 Mana isn' so much, but consider, that you can use it every few minutes. It never runs out. And the item also increases your mana-capacity and your mana-regeneration.
And stat increasers are a good idea.

I, indeed, thought about a technican, but I don't want any characters that create items - it would just make the scout more useless and would cause even more camping.

If you show me a little of what you can do (for example a small piece of forest, a park, or else), send it to me, and if it's good I don't have anything against this idea.
But I want to be sure that it's not a waste of time. Because, when I give the terrain to somebody else, I have to stop working on things like terrain/decoration/missions/story/... because they're all related to terrain works.
At the moment the "team" just consists of me (coding, abilities&units) and kukident (graphics, ideas, kicking my ass).^^

This is how the park is looking like, at the moment. (Unfinished :p)
