Ehmm Just one thing s3rius , I have a question.. or a few.. .

1.- Why the marines that spawn at the beginning leave? Isnt they suposed to fight in the city with u?
2.- can you give a few improvements to the marines and the civilians? in the convoy the zombies always rip to pieces the civilians or a soldier that was shooting at the end and no one was able to cover him because he was too far away.
(Ehmm what Im asking is if u are able to make them be close to the civs and dont run too far away or stay shooting alone, and.. are u planning to add an engineer ,a firebat, a medic or something else than a rifleman to the "other group" ? +^^ )
3.- Can we play with computer bots? (leave the soldier to stay fighting with us +shock that would be awesome and u would be my hero)
4.- If it is a beta.. can u open the other characters for those who doesnt have enough exp for unlocking them ? (dont open them for the privates, maybe just for PFCs or a little more high ranked Than a private)
Maybe a suggestion? Leave the other platoon and make them go to another place while u go to a "mission" and then make them die, and u revive them and controle them because u have the mind control item +bucktooth just kidding =)

Ive been out for a while and .. another question off the record: any advances on the part that everything goes black ? I mean about ilumination and stuff like that, for flares and ground flares

1: No, because if they're late for dinner, they get scolded by their wives. The marines are meant to easen the start a little, not to stay for too long.

2: Uhh well I can see if I can make them stay together a little more. I won't give them any other improvements (look at their inventory lol. A version earlier they didn't have anything on them). It is your task to protect them, too. On higher difficulty that can prove as a challenge, of course.

3: Bots? Nope, too complicated. And it's a team game. Think of Battlefield 2 with bots - it sucks^^

4: I somehow don't think I'll ever get beyond Beta numbers >.>
If I follow your idea I should also make any item and every mission available from the beginning on.. a beta is no tech demo. Restrictions are as much a part of the game as zombies are.

5: Apart from rule no.1 (Stay together!) flares are really really useful. Flare the streets you want to get through and check if they're clear.
And watch out for hunters, which spawn increasingly during darkness.
Even if you are scout, you should not try to get the spare parts alone, except if you are an exceptionally good player (and to be honest.. there is almost no one who, I think, could return without dying).

wow i'm that good? Razz

a good firebat can do it... as he suffer no diminished range, he can kill normal zombies and hunters before they reach him and also his fire burst can kill masses of enemies and remove enough health off to kill the rest of the enemies before they reach him ^_^

unless you get an unlucky hunter to reach you while you're not paying attention, a good firebat can do it ^_^

btw:did you check my post in te beta 5 problems? i added a replay of a fucked up game i played yesterday...

About the question of the illumination I think u didnt get me, I was saying about real light with the flares and the ground flares, even if u use them, everything is dark... +blank , maybe an illumination system like AM? or even UA2.. (try to avoid UA ) +^^
and.. maybe some random missions at the beginning? the missions are fun but playing them again and again is kind of boring.

No illumination. Don't ask me, but AM's way of lighting up does not work for dotd (to be exact, it works for a few minutes, after that it's an epic fail).

Random missions & Co are fine, but even more work. That is listed after completition of the main story.

@Misho: I've seen you playing only a few times^^ Can't say. But when you manage to survive, that's good. Doing it as a medic is a lot harder than as a firebat btw xD Try it, it's fun =)

i just finished one damned good run... one thing... when the general guy comes in, we were really out of ammo... you should spawn a bit of ammo when the experiments die, cuz after that most of the caches have been emptied...

that or give one or two boxes of ammo when thorn apprears at the defense point, outside the game... and less ammo in the gates... we went from 1-2 clips to 20-25 each (3 persons) in no time... way too much ammo for the mass creeps coming...

i found out why the enemies weren't attacking my barricades before... that's because i was cheating Razz... my invincibility was going to the barricades too, so they couldn't attack them... in a real game, it works fine...

but i think the general and his troops should never go outside the defense point... the stupid fuck went outside as the second gate opened.. and that killed him... falling back in the first gate place would be much better... for us and our allies...

if you're interested, i can send a replay of that great run ^_^

edit: now that i think about it.. it might have to do what we started the game with 5 people... i don't know....

Well... I guess they get scolded pretty badly considering the Heli gets blown up for no reason at all lol... hmm... thinking of which... do you think you could just add a text part of how something blows the helicopter up? It might make a bit more sence as to why it suddenly explodes.. like just send a rocket that hits it or something and boom! lol.. you never know when a zombie accidently steps on the trigger of something >.> its just an idea xD

I had this idea that the zerks shouldn allways had direktly forwards the group. For example when they are at the top left corner and you are at the train. Thats not really like we know them from the movies. They should roam around in the town in little groups or something like that.
Well its just an Idea and need to be tested maybe it is no more fun when cangeing it ...who knows

My secound idea is more i question than an idea. Is there any channel in bnet where you guys meet up sometimes? Because i have trouble finding people to play. And with random loader guys you cant play Hell or Nightmare. This way i never will be captain rank T.T.

my 2 ideas for now

an option to skip the cinematics or something like that its really annoying after you'ce watched it few times

and another is mayeb a command to check the xp on the code before loading the code if possible

I think there already is something like the 2nd one.. putting codes in order on paper helps if there isnt ^^ lol but im with you on the cinimatics thing x.x I don't mind watching them really though.. gives you a break before you know the shit is going to hit the fan lol

well i think i suggested something to vote the cinematics off in nightmare and hell before... when people play those modes, they usually aren't noob and know how to play the game enough to skip them and still know the story...

Unless you like to torture noobs and select nightmare with a group who doesnt load Very Happy ... I actually played a game like that last night and we got past the mutant animals then locust spawned... we ran and the Reaper picked us off 1 by 1 because we couldnt stop >.<

But I like your idea Mish.. keep them for Normal but have the option maybe even just for Hell...

Hey I play dawn of the dead all the time . I think it is great game with a lot of potential. I have a few ideas to try and give a darker feel to the game. First maybe add rain into parts of the game or random fog if u can. Second if u can have ambient zombie noises when zombies r nearby. By nearby i mean in your vision, again only if u can. Lastly maybe add some kind of creepy song or noises llike screaming or something why the player is going through the game. I don't know if you have already thought of a mission for the docks or the water station at the top left of the map but they should have some kind of point cause it looks like you put a lot of work down on the docks and new players don't even see it. Maybe the mission could be you have to pick up some workers at the docks and take them to repair the water station. I havent thought of a reason for fixing the water station but maybe after someone reads this they may think of something. Also having a mission at the docks would be a good time to bring in fog. That is all i can think of right now but I'm sure after i get on and play today i will think of more.

adding custom sounds would make the map bigger... it's already pretty big at 2.42mb ... slow hosts can make it a pain to get it distributed...

i'm pretty sure that there's gonna be a mission in the dock... as the stuff that's there has appeared pretty recently... just like how the Power Station was there a long time ago, way before there was a mission for it...

as for the water station thing... i think it would be a good spot to research the dispersion of the thign that infected everyone in the city... just an idea like this ^_^

Hi a few ideas to throw into play.

1) When charectars die (noobs really lol) i've noticed in the recent beta that items don't spawn automatically. Ok they spawn after permanent death but what if it's a medic that dies? He has res packs that are vital to the game, maybe an ally is also dead. The res pack would needed then. My solution is maybe give the host (with a considerable code) a command to drop a players items, e.g -drop blue inv.

2) Nutritous food... Well why? Get rid maybe and place more 1st aid kits but make the amount available between 1-3 instead of 5.

3) Ground Flares, Is there any chance to change them to flare gun ammo? and have only 2 flare guns dotted around the map?

4) The recharge pack, Take off the use ability because most noobs use the damn thing, idiots wtf

5 and final suggestion) A pick up power-net, i believe a pick up power-net ( the one like engi and assault man has) would be a delight to players that are low on health, it would enable a quick getaway to safety cheers

Well these are my suggestions but it think at least 1 sounds good lol.
What do u guys think?

1. remove civ attack
it makes it quite hard to save them when they go try to kill like a pudge and all of them getting killed in like 1 hit

2. a way to kill swarm even its its just for fbat with its fire

3. maybe give xp for rezing someone if possible

Not bad suggestions but.. I'll try and work in order as best as I can with my idea's or just oppinions on them..

1) Items do drop, It's just the ammo that doesnt drop untill death... When the medic dies you get the Rez Kit's.. remember its possible he has just used them all already.

2) The Food is great in my oppinion, I cant tell you how many times I've kept 4-6 in my inventory just incase I get hit once or twice so I can get back to full hp without wasting a stronger item or using a Personal Med Kit.

3) I feel that Ground flares should be left just as they are.. Afterall they can keep you alive when the lights go out o.o not to mention its a great way to mark certain area's to track enemy movements on Nightmare and Hell.

4) Tell them not to use it??? I've played Firebat and Demo many times and NEEDED that use ability (as a Fire Bat because the boss is about to rip me apart.. use and full mana, nano shield and boom! dead boss)

5) I think there are already plenty of items that enable you to escape or kill what ever is chasing you, may it be a Flare to slow them down or a Shotgun/Ingram/Grenade Launcher to put them in their place.

(cont.) 1) The civs have the capibilities to fight and as well they should, they need to be able to defend themselves if you get caught back and they get slaughtered cause they are to dumb to punch the zombie x.x

2) The whole purpose of the Swarm is to make you move and make the game more challenging (or so I would like to believe) if you could simply kill it.. well... there goes that fear and you could camp where ever you would like. However maybe a proper timer for the Swarm so it doesnt spawn while your defending the Final base....

3) I'm not sure how the trigger for that would work but if it could... wouldnt that be kind of unfair for everybody else? The Medics would gain exp much faster than anybody else. Maybe not... but I think a good player would anyway...

These are just my oppinions and thoughts on these changes I'm not trying to be mean just helpful in the construction of future advancements Smile

Hum... when characters are incapacitated, all their items are dropped on the ground... when they die, their ammo is dropped...

food is something that's expendable and not very powerful.. not every item has to be extra powerful... you see food, you're a bit low on health, you take it and don't think much about it... there is already plenty of FAKs around...

ground flares have a very different use than th "air" flares, air flares are for slowing enemies and exploring.. ground flares is to have vision of an area for a long time... when the lights are out, your best friend is ground flares...

noobs are there to learn.. make them learn.. having the Recharge Pack be used is a great thing for a last resort... i wouldn't want stuff modified like that for some noobs who will learn to use it wisely in time...

your getaway from a single enemy is sprint...

a pudge killing civilians? well usually the pudge comes after the civilians are already on the chopper... otherwise you should thank them, they are letting you kill him without you having to take hits... the only solution to that would be to make him stop from entering the parking lot until the civilians are on-board the chopper or something...

Swarm is an anti-camping device.. to make you run for your life for a bit... the game is a lot more interesting when you're running than when you're just standing in a building responding to some attacks...

xp for using the CPR kit... we'll have xp whores kill to take the CPR kit and rez the one downed guy then the guy who they kiled to get the kit... just like in 5.2 they were attacking their teammates to heal them to get free xp, don't underestimate xp whores....

sorry to bring all that down... but many things are there to stop people from either camping or soloing... you're supposed to move as a group, communicate and kill as a team...

I do agree with you.. lol in the long run to make the story short.. the things were done this way for a reason and although they arent person (how long things last for example.. or how quickly they end in terms of flares) its all been thought out like that for a reason Smile

Yea i was thinking about that since i was a sgt haha.

I had another idea about an unlock skill maybe a push ability for when you reach colonel.

The push ability would do what it says push off hunters-stalkers and stun them for 1-2 seconds for u to move away. Might be kinda useful when they run up behind you when your running for your life when swarm is trying to tare your body to pieces

I like that there are cutscenes they add depth to the game. they are not that long and the first one at the lab gives me time to smoke.

I like the idea of the locusts I just think they should ping more than once. sometimes im killing a crap load of zombies or runnning around and didnt see that they spawned right next to me gg to me. I mean I usually see them but if they pinged a couple more times they would be more noticeable.

Thats all I got for now.
