i've been trying a lot of things... one thing i recently tried was putting the book in the chopper with a corpse... it gave the player and also gave corpse back... is this a glitch or maybe something else?

It's an item that summons little skeleton orcs and can be upgraded multiple times by purchasing the recipe scroll again. I got it right s3rius? You know I'm right.

It would be quite interesting if the book would start a quest once you open it to find this Mysterious Stranger.

And once you have found him he will say something and tell a short story about the book and it's origin and then someone with some more imagination keep the story going.

But the book is a work by the beloved Lovecraft.

Not sure about the undead guy that was mentioned but I handed the Necromonicon once, got some lousy sawed shotgun with two charges.

yeah.... s3rius needs to make it more epic.... like the necronomicon makes the mysterious stranger follow you(very slowly) to a location and it summons a weapon that is up to par with the DOTD3 uzi or DOTD5 Gatling gun...

NO NO NO! YOU'RE DOING IT ALL WRONG! Giving the mysterious stranger unlocks the Merchant, that's who the mysterious stranger really is, a really creepy weapons merchant guy, codename RimJob. He sells items, anything ranging from weapons to medical supplies and everything in between. You can sell your useless items to him, he might even buy it at a high price. Of course, you can buy good stuff from him, because this guy has like over 9000 different items in his trench coat and backpack.

and you buy it with your rank-xp!
buying a certain number of items would also work towards a medal so that people will still want to save after buying stuff for more xp than they gained in that one game... for a hell run or something ^_^

and if you buy until you rank down, it says:
"the army caught you buying illegal weapons on the battlefield, as a punishment you lose a rank"
