Man, there are a few huge changes there. Atleast Fitality noticed ^^. Had another beta test, which I learned tons in!! So much more successful then just testing them myself. I ran a full walkthrough of the game yesterday and have about a page of things written down I want to change lol (changes to the changes I made lolz). The last mission is about 10% complete. Still working on the story line.

Anywho, Im posting because I need Officer Ability ideas. The current ones are infra-red sensor, disarm, combat knife, ET, leadership, expertise, etc... I have put in a few new ones, but I want more ideas!!! Send them at me! Thanks =D

I'll just write a few of the things I got in my ideas-log:

Radio - Grants vision of this unit to other players for 20 seconds.
Demolitions Charge - attached to a tree to blow it down.
Tactical Flare - Calls in Artillery to flare the designated area for ~20 seconds.
Detonate Explosives - Detonates the targeted explosive.
Designate Ground/Target - Big indicator.
Satelite Imaging - Deactivates Fog Of War for a short time.

How about new levels for the abilities? For Ex. Combat knife lvl 2 would attack faster and do a little more damage. Also, I have a few ideas to fill up the empty space in the BF control

New battlefield control Items:

Tactical Nuke
Mana cost: 500 mana (or what ever will be max in the new version)
Effect: Does massive damage in a med-large area Only one per game
Rank required: GEN

Supply drop
Mana cost: Same as B-8
Effect: Same as B-8
Rank Required: Move the rank down to LTG or MG

Air strike
Mana Cost: 250
Effect: does huge damage in a line (2 parts). The air strike ability will deploy an invulnerable beacon that cannot move, but is the starting point of the air strike. The beacon, or the BF control has the second step of the 2-part attack. The ability can be used anywhere in the map, but there are always X # of bombs that are dropped, (maybe 2-3 satchel's worth of explosions damage per bomb) and it will reach as far as it can to the destination in a straight line, using the amount of bombs it has. If the point of bombing is reached before the X # of bombs runs out, then A) the last explosion will be much larger Or B) bombs will be dropped in a cluster bomb pattern from the start to the finish, covering more area on the way to the destination.
Rank required: LTG or MG (opposite to Supply drop)

Orbital Gauss Cannon
Mana Cost: 200
Effect: Does large damage in an area (unlike the Scout's orbital Cannon, this can be used by anyone with Battlefield Control, and does instant damage, rather than Damage over time)
Rank Required: BG

Reinforcements
Mana Cost: 175
Effect: Gives all dead players an additional unit from a helicopter (only usable when someone is dead or has left) Has a long cooldown
Rank Required: COL

*No name as of Yet*
Mana Cost: N/A
Effect: gives additional Battlefield Mana only on Hell mode, or Nightmare Ironman
Rank Required: LTC

change something on the disable life support... maybe give a 15 second cooldown on it (but not on pull the pin) and write in the tooltip read and with big letters DO NOT USE UNTIL SOMEONE HIGH RANKED SAYS SO. it will kill you permanentely, or something like that. i am tired of all that newbies tanking and then when they died: "YEEEHA A NEW ABILITY!" -> disabled

The Rifleman grenade also says it damages teammates, but that doesn't stop people from nading their allies. To put it simply, if I put warnings and "fail-safes" on everything stupid someone could do, EVERYone would get annoyed at all the messages that would get displayed.

People already complain about the radio transmissions, perhaps they will realize that stuff in those messages is actually important (possible spoiler ;P).

true. but tbh i think the rifle grenade warning and anti infantry warning etc actually REALLY HELP. because it is a great think to know if i can kill my teammates or not, when i want to save their lives with a closely thrown grenade. also i must say that i see ppl teamkilling very seldom (maybe because i mainly play with ranked players)

I dunno, even if I did agree with that I would then have to figure out how to code it. I haven't even started the medals yet. It would probably be easy just to add a game mode that makes friendly fire impossible on a whole, but then I would probably disable certain things because of that.

And adding warnings to prevent you from using abilities that could kill you or your allies isn't??? I realize this might sometimes prevent you from accidnetly nading your ally, but perhaps I just dotd players to actually use some skill when aiming their spells. instead of mass clicking until the spell is just outside of range of an ally. I'm all for adding words in an item description that you feel should be added, but actually preventing people from using a spell just because it damages an ally or makes it so they can't be revived, thats not happening.

I'll review the tooltip for disable life support and see if it can be worded better.

Well in my mind the title "Disable Life Support" seems to get the point accross. I do really see how that could be mis-understood. Perhaps if that question could be answered, I provide a description that would elimante confusion. At which point I would add "IT KILLZ YOU!"

the thing is that people dont really read, they think: ogod i died! hey, i can still do something! - disabled.

so maybe you should make it only to trigger when ppl doubleclick (ppl must read message to know how to trigger)
this would at least prevent a few ppl from disabling as soon as they can

How about an officer ability that attracts zombies to you? Maybe a skill that fires off a clip into the air and consumes a mag.

If I'm not mistaken, the zombies already come from anywhere on the map to you, so it seems you wouldn't need a spell to do that. Adding a skill that deliberately wastes ammo? I dunno dude.
