C&C Series, Progenitor of all RTS games

I can't believe no one has mentioned the C&C series probably the longest running RTS game franchise existing. Personally I love the Tiberian Universe, Red Alert games (excluding RA3) and Generals (though Generals was drastically different from the other C&C games). My favourite game out of the C&C series would be C&C 3: Tiberium Wars. Mammoth tanks FTW.

lol yeah i played a lot in Lan with friends c&c and red alert. It was very fun .

Dune II and Warcraft were born a few years before tho ( like you , omg i feel old now ... )

nobody mentions them because they ALL went to hell, Yuri's revenge is all I have to say about Tiberium Wars. The first two with GDI and NOD were great though... Dune 2000 was definately a game I grew up with though.. and Red Alert wasnt balanced at all but still a great game lol

My favs are C&C 1 and 2. I think 3 was somewhat fishy. 4 is good again. The rest is mediocre.

The C&C soundtrack is simply astonishing. Made by Frank Klepacki (who also made music for Dune and War of the Worlds). Hell March from C&C 2 just rocks.

Dune was made by Westwood and so was C&C. As for Warcraft 1, it never got as much attention or critical acclaim as the first C&C game in 1995. Red Alert is so imba lol, fuckin Prism Tanks and Mirage Tanks? Like really...

Wc1 is still a great game.
I think the reason why C&C1 was a much greater success is that it introduced the mouse control as we know it today (that you can right-click on a place to go there, right click on a unit to attack it, etc). In Wc1 you still had the uncomfortable button-controll (you need to click the "move"-button, then on a spot to go there).

Yeah that was a turn off for me, that's why I liked C&C 1 better then WC1. It's too bad Westwood disbanded, I wanted them to make C&C 3 but EA LA did instead. They did a good job in my opinion and it's my favourite C&C game but I'd would have liked to see Westwood have done it instead.

Westwood worked with Sierra on quite a few projects surprisingly... I'd forward a link but I cant find any to prove my point... other than their logo's in like EVERY game together but I wish I could find the whole list
