I have an idea about Dotd6 General abilities.

Maybe he can have a ability with which he can call reinforcements to aid him in his task.
Like two Riflemen(NPC) who guard him.

True, its a little bit imba, but might be funny. Its only natural that a gernal has his men to guard him.

To make it not overpowered it can have a cooldown about 30min maybe. And you all know, NPCs are stupid, they will die.

Moved to DotD 6 - Submit.

I don't know about Generals, but Colonels are already in command of brigarde-sized units. But I can hardly let any COL. bring in 5000 soldiers as reinforcements ^^"

2 npc marines, even if you don't have control of them, can be more than powerful at some points. I've given the General a skill to spawn a small supply depot to draw items from. I think that is enough. Also it kinda feels lame to have 2 minis as a "static ward" sort of thing..
You'll see more than enough npc marines in later missions.

lmfao knew that was coming. I dunno sure in UA2 it's useful but on DOTD it's a bit more enclosed and with minis following you... would just make everything too easy imo

Generals maybe should be able to command 2 extra rifleman every so often, and call it reinforcements, but none less then general as there will be alot of COL+ when beta 7 is out

Honestly IMO if your a General why the hell would you need reinforcements? The only use of it i could see is for the purpose of Hell. If i was a General i'd more like a nerfed ability such as a stack able Devotion aura(armor bonus +1.5) or Mini Bonus AS(Use Berserk remove damage increase taken, IAS of 10% bonus for 4 seconds). If we had to move on with the idea or marines at least put it to bout 400+ mana on the global commands so we dont have to stack it with medvac or arty

Yea really if your a general your not on the battlefield... Which brings me to my next idea I might be getting off topic here but if your a general you unlock an ability to see to the whole map and be able to help the team while not actually having a unit on the field...

Why not give Generals the ability of faster (hero) exp? Due to the fact that they are so experianced for every (20~) kills he gains an extra (rank-x-level) I'm being harassed so I cant make it any clearer at the moment lol tell me if it needs to be cleared up

I see what you mean. Alright Well just like real generals they can't see a place until a member of the team goes there. but then the general can still see all thats there... also he might be able to fly in item drops or other things

Thats a good idea, Have vision for other teamates in the game but I suggest lowering the rank with that, mabye.... But thats a good idea to just see where your teamates are and their vision.
With the plane drop.. I guess i would consider general rank and would be a good idea for supplies... You will never know what kind of suprises you will get ( Depends on the difficulty of what chances of weapons you get)

Well yea you would have to find the smoke nade items already placed on the map before you could get your item drops Razz they have to know where to drop the stuff. But these smoke nade items don't appear on the map unless there is that special "unit" chosen by the general.

guetting extra in-game xp (not rank-xp) could be a cool thing to get at 72 500....

Generals are already experienced enough, it would be sensible to assume they have less to learn. They should be gaining exp slower instead.

I understand that Grim but the exact opposite actually works.. because they start off with the basic skills they would learn them faster due to the fact that they are so experienced. so they get a bonus exp per kill ratio idea.. just a thought though ^^

Well it is a good idea but it would be hard to program a bit since table contents set the exp of every hero gaining ratio. It would be hard to modify the exp of certain players though it is a good idea. Though i could be wrong since i experiment with world editor a lot

If I remember correctly there is a native function like SetHeroExperienceGain() which lets me modify the hero's xp modifier directly Razz

I don't want to make Generals too much more powerful. Spawning riflemen or an increased xp gain would make them significantly better which kind of removes the point of having higher difficulties. I'd have to make the game even harder for high-ranks so it's a challenge for them.

Ah but it wouldnt s3rius because the exp gain would only help them level faster before the first assault on the civs.. after that is gaining 10 extra exp every 20 kills REALLY that important? I mean think about it.. in total you are lucky to kill 200+ depending on class so thats a maximum of maybe 20-60 exp early game which is almost nothing. it just gives you your first few skill level's a couple of seconds early..

Givin how advanced these players are (rank-wise) I think it makes sence Smile all in all your looking at MAYBE an extra 300 hero exp in a game.. thats not even enough to put a dent in the level bar at the end.. Smile

Lets go back to my idea tho, Having the ability to see other teamates and their vision for a limited time.
