[Poll] DotD - Rank Icons

A discussion has rising whether to add or not to add Rank Icons for DotD (See here)

Will put that up to public decision.

[x] Add only BTNs. That means that I add the icons, but remove their disabled versions. That would make the icons turn into an ugly green when someone pauses the game (until unpause). (They could also turn green on some other occasions.. I'm not sure. It happens more often in singleplayer, but very rarely in multiplayer.) Requires ~175kb of space.

[x] Add full icons. Nothing much to say. Adds BTNs and DISBTNs. Requires ~300kb of space, but does not show green icons at all.

[x] Don't add at all. Nothing much to say.

The rank icons would only be seen in the Multiboard so it doesn't have much visual impact on the game.
Or do you have any other places you'd want them to be displayed?
Adding 300kb would bring the map to ~3MB total size. Judging from the values of my host bot 300kb would increase the download time by about 15-20 seconds (would increase loading time by half a second at max. Not worth speaking of)

If you have a different idea, feel free to post it.

Dont add them at all. Better to save space for more items, mission, etc

Add Full Icons, it would be awesome to have a new badge every time you rank up, will be a main pointer of ranking up and will encourage more people to stick around and play dotd, and would be very satisfying to see it next to your name on the on screen name board.

i don't think it's worth it for the little impact it will give... and the ranks are before the people's name in the chat in beta 7 (from what i've played) so it won't matter that much...

isnt it possible to fit a little picture on the top right dash board next to their names, about the same size as the icon of their class picture? which is a minature sqaure icon

that would be neat . makes the board more interesting to lok at

Yes, it would mainly be shown there. With the same size.

Well i don't really see any real impact the icon has on the game. I vote they dont be added. Already the map takes minutes to download in Garena (downloading by entering a host you do not have a map yet).

since 1.24 there´s no need to save space, because custom map sice is increased to 8mb. and the few seconds more downloading time.... not worth speaking of i think. rank icons kick ass,- so i would say make a new survey and add the full rank icons

well people have been complaining about the slow downloading times already.... at a full minute at 40kb/sec....

well Misho those people that complain are just impatient, they cant wait 1 minute to download the map? geez.

ok. now how many people download at 40kbps? and wth should they complain about 1 (!!!!) minute!? i totally not aggree with them, because when they cant wait only 1 minute, they havent deserved this map i think... i mean come on, one minute?!

Well I see it like this, does it make map look cooler? does it make have a purpese? Is there enough space in file to add it? If yes why not then? I dont see why not, someone said 8mb can be made of custom maps now, well afaik you have a lot left to fill those 8mb. So my vote goes for adding it, I dont see no points why it should not. People that complain that it takes 1-2 min to dl a map are just crazy

lol give me a break.. map size increase by 300? thats what they are (general people dling the map) complaining about? go ahead and add the full thing its another 5 seconds for most people OoOoOoO big deal on their part... seriously s3rius if I don't care about map size when I'm DLing from the site for new versions why should other people? lol

I'd like to see them too. If a person wants to play the game then they will wait for the DL if people can't then w/e. Patience is a virtue.

Hmm ): I didn't get to vote. maps can now be 8mb?! that's GREAT wasn't the max before 4mb? I think that if it only adds maybe 5 seconds load time to go ahead and do it there is plenty of space now it will make things look even better than they looked before and visuals really sell a map

I cant vote too , add full icons. It will be nice and it seen there wont be much consequence about it. If someone cant take 15-20 more seconds to download the map he doesnt deserve to play. IMO

Well if you look at the date, it was June 30th. Maybe it was a timed poll, since this topic is more than a month old?

My opinion is that most of the ZKS and ZDC crew have already trialed/beta tested beta 7 and other beta versions and liked/loved/enjoyed them (sure as hell i do ) which would mean that people dling the map will not worry about the tiny amount of dl time because they know what they will be in for....

Considering you can just dl from Epicwar.com let alone other gamers, means that you can be doing something more than just waiting for the map to dl....

Plus on the other hand we are a group that is commited to publish this map to anyone that is willing to listen and play properly thus making a few little icons may make it more appealing...

Personally i think they would be great... Only 300kb which will make the map a measly 3mb when you can create maps as big as 8mb...

Anyways if it isnt a huge success or people dont like it then there is always later Beta versions...

Please dont add them S3rius. The map size is already too damn big - don't want to waste more bandwidth on these noobs down here in Bored Aussie server since we get alot of them.
