Should the Host-Bot autohost?
Sun 14 Jun 2009, 02:29
should it be a public bot or should it be only used by our clan?
autohosting activated... i hope i did it right,.... and it won't only host a single game.. but only one game at a time...
EDIT: poll removed, the autohosting has been enabled for a while now...

If it was auto-host than people would be getting better, but we might not have guaranteed spots unless we kick, private is pretty much ouch of the question b/c people are never online >.<
Thats just my view on things....

Well, One day I was playing with some random people.. and I decided I liked them so we went to clan ZDC to play some more... one guy went afk asking to wait.... So I said ok and whispered the bot "!unhost" at 23:18 and the bot came back and just crashed..... out of no where.
Can you fix this please and not be mad at me!

Fire broke the bot! anyway I think its fine if the bot auto-hosts I just dont see much point to it.. the bot is here to distribute the map yes but its also here so we can play and WE can find new members.. you know? ofcourse.. before the game starts you could have a message saying COME TO CLAN ZDC IF YOU LIKE THE GAME or something.. but that just BEGS for spammers....

That's true it does encourage spammers but it also encourages everyone who isn't a spammer as well

i don't see anything at 23:18.... but i see you used !unhost at 23:00IA-Firestarter wrote:Well, One day I was playing with some random people.. and I decided I liked them so we went to clan ZDC to play some more... one guy went afk asking to wait.... the bot seems to have went offline and autoreconnected as usual, 90 secs later
try not to use !unhost, the autohosting is on now... just either let it make the new game, let it start and make a new one as soon as it start or join it...
it can host up to 3 games at the same time, but it will only autohost 1 at the same time.... so try not to use !unhost...
as i said in the bot thread, if you have suggestions for the message it shows up when you enter the lobby or when you enter the game, i would be happy to use them... i posted the exact message that it shows and specifically said that i would be happy to change it...Eulogy wrote:Fire broke the bot! anyway I think its fine if the bot auto-hosts I just dont see much point to it.. the bot is here to distribute the map yes but its also here so we can play and WE can find new members.. you know? ofcourse.. before the game starts you could have a message saying COME TO CLAN ZDC IF YOU LIKE THE GAME or something.. but that just BEGS for spammers....
what would be good would be to make it say every like 30 mins or so: "if you like the game, come to the offical clan on SU East: Clan ZDC"
if only i knew how to do it...
my normal bot could, in theory, send that message every 30 mins, but i have no scripting knowledge...
could anyone make such a script?
http://bnetdev.net/scripts/
just a script that every 30 mins it sends "a message" and i'll replace it with the proper command to the hosting bot

right now, i have to use Mishotaki as a bot and have an "away" message every 15 mins to say that.... so if i wanna play, the message is disabled...Eulogy wrote:its a good message Mish ^^ you figured out how to do it on ur own?

the problem is that only the root admin can say things in games.... i won't give it to misho-bot because other people can acess hims functions... making him vulnerable to people who could exploit the hosting bot (ban people, make it quit, give admin to anyone)

Can we run more than one bot? Say, if I was willing to install one...

you can run an army of ghost++ bot hosting each one 5 games at the same time . each bot should have his own CDKeys set tho
I dont think blizzard have restriction about IP / connections

Yea, I'm usually running two bots at once Northrend and another one on Azeroth. Though only one of them is a host bot.

Yes, as long as you have the bandwidth (to ensure low pings and good map downloads) and the cd-keys.
Every ghost needs a seperate set of RoC and TFT keys.

yes but u need a cd key set for each bot
example: u have 3 set of cd keys (RoC and TFT) , you can run 3 bots
UsWest
bot 1 / set 1 (host 5 games)
bot 2 /set 2 (host 5 games)
bot 3 /set 3 (host 5 games)
UsEast
bot 1 / set 1 (host 5 games)
bot 2 /set 2 (host 5 games)
bot 3 /set 3 (host 5 games)
Europe
bot 1 / set 1 (host 5 games)
bot 2 /set 2 (host 5 games)
bot 3 /set 3 (host 5 games)
Asia
bot 1 / set 1 (host 5 games)
bot 2 /set 2 (host 5 games)
bot 3 /set 3 (host 5 games)
total, u can host 60 games on battle.net o_O as same key can be used at the same time on different servers
if u have a 4th set of keys u also can play at the same time ^_^

I think you cannot use the same keys on different servers unless one of these servers is Azeroth.
I guess it's a bug or something, but even players who are banned on Northrend can still join Azeroth, but not Kalimdor or Lordearon.
