That beta test was great, and I really look the new look of everything. Was looking forward to my first beta test, and I enjoyed it, except we got pwned on NM, but oh well.

LOL you're lucky.... many of the tests i've done had a lot of problems.... and usually ended in s3rius ending them with an arty strike in the group(or satchels chain reaction) .. beta 7changes look pretty nice (the multiboard customisation looks nice!)

That's why I do beta testsMishotaki wrote:LOL you're lucky.... many of the tests i've done had a lot of problems....
There is no release date yet. I might wait until Blizzard releases their patch, since it will render all pre-patch DotD maps unplayable.

Yes, the more I work with it the more I start to like the new stuff.
It's a nice time to update systems and get rid of old, buggy things. I'm just dumping the old hash tables .
Most changes will be unnoticible by the players, but I hope that these changes will improve stability and reduce the chance of freezes and critical errors. With a little luck it'll even reduce the memory that has to be allocated for wc3 (which is especially good for people with weak computers).

Well I mean if its a big update chances are there might be a few minor bugs they will be trying to fix at the same time so you will probably have a good opportunity to learn the material fairly well before you can actually use it properly =/

I've read that it takes est. 2 weeks for the patch to go public. Before that there's at least 1 fix for that patch scheduled.
That's more than enough time to get the new things straight. It'll need longer to make the old things work with the new things.

Well thats good news atleast.
But you havent been able to get any other hints about what its going to do to your map system or do you already know basically what you need to do to make it work again?

The only thing that will break are certain functions, that do type-casting. Means functions that turn a handle (an object like a unit or an item) into a unique number. This type-casting was never intended and is only a bug.
Now they've disabled all these unsafe type-casting functions.
In exchange they have added a new native function that basically does the same thing, but is type safe. Most systems will work again when I simply exchange the old type caster with the new one.
I am using several other type casts that are deeply integrated into my functions and are harder to replace. Finding and changing these will be the hardest part.
