Nice, may I ask what CPU you have?
NVM I saw you had a Q6600 when I hacked you.

LOL yeah.. you hacked me.... or looked in the forums where i said what i had...Lisianthus wrote:Nice, may I ask what CPU you have?

anyway.. the test is kinda flawed.... it only uses single core... so having an overclocked single core will have better results than a quad...
i know that cuz i was curious a bit and cheched the Task Manager and saw that i still had 75% of my CPU idle... and even if i put the appliccation in "real time" mode or change the affinity, it doesn't change the time at all.... i even tried to go into safe mode and it didn't give me better results...
so the test isn't using all my power, only 1/4 of it...
edit: so i played with it a little... reached 48 secs by cranking up the "gear" of the automatic underclocking of my processor in low loads made by my motherboard... i guess it was taking a couple seconds to crank up the voltage back to default speed when it comes under load...

It does not only use 1 core. Both my cores where at 50% during the whole test. and they also reached same heat. (Though I made these in deeper observations in 32M calc

Hahaha I seemed to have posted my 4M score. I turned off everything and ran it in commandline and got 42s Beat that PUNK!
Oups double post. Sorry.

you can see that it only really use one core... the other 3 are barely used and it's showing 26% load... so higher single core speed will have a lower time than a thousand cores at lower clock...
Re: The Computer duel(s)

Not really, as it can move the other processes to another core so that program can run alone on that core.
Also what OS do you use? as mine does use both cores. And it's not only the clock that matters. Example a 2.4ghz Core 2 Due will own a Intel Pentium 3 OC'ed to 4ghz cuz the P3 have lower speed FSB less L1/2 Cache etc. And also the speed of the memory does also matter. You cannot say that only the Clock matters as the fastest FSB's biggest Caches are on the multiple core processors

tested again without any other programs (i think), but my 2 core's didn't work together, only one of my cores did do the calculation. anyways, here is my time: 1m 24s, was the best, cuz it wasn't the same all the times i tried

weired... normally all cores are assigned to every process... but u can manually assign them in the task manager => processes.

and i just tested, i've put affinity on core 3 and ran the test once more... 51 secs... with only one core used and not closing anything (running a fast bittorent at the same time )so it's really single core dependant...Skavenslayer wrote:alibababert wrote:tested again without any other programs (i think), but my 2 core's didn't work together, only one of my cores did do the calculation. anyways, here is my time: 1m 24s, was the best, cuz it wasn't the same all the times i tried

well, tested again, with new program, now both of my cores did work together, but it didn't change the time it took.
anyways, I look forward to the next test in this computer duel
