Project Status

I mostly just work on this map when I have absolutely nothing else to do, so it is pretty much laid on ice for now. But one day it will be finished.

The map is undergoing some new terrain work. Unless the person I sent it to forgot all about it.

Recieved your mail parad0x. I will work on it today night among some other things that have to be done before the EM-Final tomorrow evening. Am I allowed to import something in case I think it would look better? I will not increase the map size much if I do import sth - I'm good in keeping it low.
EDIT: I would like to import things that increase your mapsize by 45kb. Would that be ok? The look will turn out mucho better!
EDIT2: Important question: Do you need trees as destructibles (attackable by workers, units and trees are able to collect wood from it) or can they be just for the better look (without any function)??

You have free hands to import things, and no trees don't have to be destructibles.

Alright, just returned home and so i can show already some screenshots. Main terrain work has been done already, the castle has yet to be finished though.
(1) One player/team startpoint - haven't increased the space of player startpoints, though it appears almost a little small to me.
(2) A part of the castle ruin. Pretty much finished i think.
(3) A part of the graveyard in the top left corner of the map.
(4) A house from the village with the main walls from the castle in the background. Walls are walkable by defending units.

The castle in the middle it pretty much finished already. But aslong as you don't change the size of it(Spend hours getting the proportions right) you can tweak it abit aswell.
And from what I can see on the screenshoots, I looks great.
Edit: And in the player starting point, the tents you use for stuff will be created at start depending on which race the player chooses.

Hey, why my post from yesterday has disappeared? Weird.... o.0
Anyway, Lis, I have kept all major proportions and areas of your terrain, just added many optical things. The main part I have changed from your previous terrain are the cliffs - I HATE the blizzard cliffs. Anyone that gives me a map to terrain should be aware of the risk to loose all those!
well, that would have been a nice info for the beginning, m8... doh, but I guess I can't complain. =/ Well, I haven't changed the size of the castle, but the inside cliffs are a little different now. Well, you can have a look at it when I send it back to you. Then you can decide if something needs to be changed.
Basically, there is now only one main defense ring around the castle, hence the defending players have more place to build def. structures etc... the gates / entrances have been slightly rearranged.
figured already, those tents are doodads. Haven't placed any units.

Well, I did tell you not to change the Castle . But it is not that important really. ANd I kinda exadurated when I said hours, it was more like a half hour. And I am pretty sure I was the one who made the blizzard cliffs.

Well, I did tell you not to change the Castle...
I know!
+tongue
But ok, let's see you like my suggestion for the castle - it offers now (IMO) a larger area to build sth on and to send units everywhere in the castle quickly. I have raised the cliff level by one for the defenders so they can shoot down on the attackers with ranged units.
you will also notice a castle-building in the middle of the main "castle". It's basically a blank building, you can do with it what you want - use it for example as unit recruiting place or item shop. Remove it if you dont like it or if you need the space.
Map has been sent back already.

I've had a look at it and it looks great. I really like the Castle ruin. And yeah, I was planning on giving the defending people the ability to build defensive buildings later on.
Gonna try and get a basic beta out pretty soon just to test the gameplay.

Well, the Project Takeover thread might give you an idea. But once I get a new comp that can acctually run games without lagging I will probably resume the work on it.

Meaning I'll start to work on it in about 1 year or so. Unless I manage to score a nice part-time job.
