 Add on to the DOTD game

I'm currently working on an add onto to the classic 5.2.

With enough action and repetitive building of bases after a team killer decides to own fatty at your base.


I've come up with the idea of a food collection.

If any of you have seen the film land of the dead. (Not dawn of the dead)

I'm sure a collection of a bike to go collect supplys from a small slum in the map would be a great idea.



Instead of searching for just ammo boxes and cartridges you might come across a boarding pass allowing you to cross into a safe zone. You can buy medi-kits and extra improvements for your weapons.


(These will only last the game but yet they will increase the playing power)

On another note an ability for scout for body search.
Much like the undeads ability to eat there enemy a scout will search dead zombies for supplys they might have been holding when eaten.

What do you mean by add? Creating/Modifying of your own DotD?

A safe zone sounds like a great idea. Though if something of that is in the game keeping up the ordinary wave-system might be difficult. Since the safe zones would probably un-accessable for zombies players could camp there and only leave to hin&run some zombies.
Buying improvements and supplies is also a good thing (though you'll have to solve the problem that gold/lumber is currently used for ammunition).

A quick thought about food gathering: Your hero has a status (such as HP or mana) which shows how well nurtured he is. If it sinks below a certain point the hero will suffer from it (less movespeed, less regeneration, ..). And over-average value will grant you slight boni (tempoary movespeed bonus, ..).

Good counter, Yet at the end of each round like before the nuculear explosion there is a count down.

Thus you could have a countdown before you have to be out of the safe spot?

Well basicly you could "close" the safe-spot

Basicly what i mean by that is that you only have a certain amount of time, maybe day? To go buy supplies, and then at night you have to go back to the base, and if you're inside the safe-spot, you will be kicked out of it at night. if you understand what i mean Wink

Or since there s3rius is making a completely new version maybe he can add like a variable that counts down and when reaching 0 you start to slowly loose health and "mana" And if it's only low you don't get the regeneration.

What about just a thing you purchase from and it get dropped at a selected place at the end of each gameday.

By thing I mean like a little shop in the corner of the map that you cannot access with your character. It's like you radio in the stuff.

At least nice to hear from another dotd-mapper. Hopefully you'll release a public version as well sometimes. Wink

Anyway, in my opinion, the "find food or drain" thing is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it's kind of forcing every player to walk around, what would be a good thing. But on the other hand, it could destroy the maps feeling. From my experience, a game where you always have to take an eye on the clock - or the food-countdown in this case, is hardly pretty mass-appealing. Could make the game too hectic, if a player has to constantly take care of too many things - ammo, life, team, tactic, food, etc... If you want to implement something, I'd make it pretty understated - instead of draining, you'd probably just loose the ability to regenerate hp or reduce the regeneration rate only.

Just some thoughts. Smile
