S3rius, I have a few ideas you may or may not have thought of yet, and being a mapmaker I can help you achieve these Very Happy.
Your map is pro already though I must say. Key Points: (In My Opinion)
Missions=Good
Balanced Units=Excellent
Modes=Good
Types of Classes=Good
Variety of Zombies=O.K.
Terrain=O.K.
Doodads=Good
Creativity=Good

Now, these are all what I think of course, and they mean you no offense in any way. Just constructive critisicm.
Ideas:
#1.You know how UAII has randomized mission, I want you to do that too XD, randomized missions is better in that you don't know where to go next i.e. realism. If it is fixed, I always see pplz just waiting at the power station then 1 sec. after power goes out, next mission starts -_-. So unrealistic- No risk at all. (Make some more Missions XD)
#2.More Mode types plz XD, perhaps a PVP one? or if not then a "Classic" DOTD mode where you can do it like DOTD 5-just stay somewhere and slaughter zombs as they come at you XD-way cool.
#3.Types of Clases, maybe 2 or 3 more types please, as you rank up. And maybe 3 medics instead of 2 max?
#4.Variety of Zombies, make it more realistic by adding more types of them critters. Seeing the same old faces isnt that good Razz. More ugly faces plz!
#5.Terrain could be a lil'better. Some more doodads here and there, more variations in the building-looks. A square block of building with a few elevations and a door? Thats all i see, perhaps some new house designs Razz.
#6.Engineer can't build cades wtf? thats the whole point of DOTD (5) XD. Maybe allow cade-construction, but at a higher cost than in dotd 5.

I don't think that the most of these things would be a good idea, copying everything from other maps is not what a map should be like. It's called DotD (6) because its NOT DotD (5).

About the PvP thing, many people asked abut it right now and I think s3rius will do it if he feels like it.

he already said multiple times that he'll do more mode types when he's done with the missions

more classes? there is already a lot... if you want more, suggest some in the characterisation thread...
3 medics is way too much... having almost half your team being a medic is gonna make it harder for everyone...

the terrain has been ameliorated(sp?) over time... with every version being much nicer than the last one...

you never played DOTD3.... there wasn't an engineer back then... it was all demoman making satchels and claymores the whole time and using them for the final waves... staying in a base is damned boring for everyone except the ones who know what they are doing...

in DOTD5.2f, the main busy guy was the engineer... then the demoman and soldier could be somewhat busy laying satchels/claymores... and the other clases would basically sit there and use some skills.... but then the noobs would just hold position and go do somethign else, the boss comes, rape the base and kill the noobs or gets raped at the base and nuke it...

while basing was nice, missions is way nicer...

mod note: i would fuse that with the ideas thread....

Thats why it's a mode, not compulsory. And of course, missions In Your Opinion is way nicer, you'll still have your missions, just a basing mode as an option for pplz like me to pick Very Happy

Maybe Your right about the medics, but perhaps in each mode the number of re-animation kits given to the medic reduces? So it will be an incentive to stay alive. Coz i always see people just dying, then saying "Rez me!" "Rez me!", this then causes a medic to come running to them and medic dies with them -_-. So if you have less rez kits, there will be less people thinking that if they die, they'll still have a chance.
-It's like the safety belt thing, since safetybelts and airbags came into cars, there have been like 2x more car cashes coz research shows that pplz think with all the new gizmos and safety measures they can go at top speeds and still survive if they hit anything. Analogy of this rez kit thing XD.

Asgard_Ragna: I did not say "everything", i said Some useful things which should (IMO) be included in all 1 hero shooter maps. I don't hear you saying "Hey s3rius, that "actions" spellbook is from UAII, go remove it"- the one with the drop clips,reload an all that.

Ok I understand about the pvp thing, and i think it wouldnt work. AM and sniper would own everybody. Kapow from range=K.O for everyone else -_-.

if the medic comes running at someone who just died, he's stupid... he needs to be in a group to survive...

some classes can survive alone pretty well, the medic isn't one of those, simply because he's there to be healing allies...

modifying some things like that just because of the noobs isn't something that should be done...
sure having the marines spawn at the train instead of being at the first opened door makes it much easier for noobs, but it's not gonna make so many people useless at the last standoff where they have no damage output and nothing much to heal...

Mishotaki: Lol well maybe s3rius needs to make it obvious not for a medic to come running, analogy: If we're all playing a RTS map, and my ally gets attacked i have two choices: 1:defend ally with all i got. 2: Attack an enemy base with all i got to try divert enemy to their base and defend it.
The 1 = healing/rezzing an ally and 2 = ignoring ally's death in DOTD. Of course i help my ally-its the obvious choice and threfore most people who are stupid/noobs/morons would just trust their insticts and go straight to their fallen ally. Either make a hint saying: when reviving allies, have some backup for the medic in question or something like that. (Just like writing a book/making maps- you gotta make it as if the reader/players are stupid/dunno anything.)

Lol, just because of noobs? That analogy affects everyone even us pros Very Happy (Though i may not be a pro) psychologically speaking of course. And anyway: it was just a suggestion. +bucktooth

I know I'm a bit late on this one but I just want to point out that there have been 2x more car crashes not because people think they can go top speed but because there are about 10x more cars on the road... Mathimatically speaking there should be much more car accidents every year if your going to use that logic.

and I like the idea of the mass pudge thing but.. thats kinda what happens while your trying to defend the base with Colonel White.

The trouble with a vote system is that some people wont even answer... so it would have to be like 2 ppl needed MAX and on top of that.. if somebody is TKing you dont really have the time to wait for a second person to type -ok or w/e you know? Also.. lets just be patient with what S3rius is doing now before trying to make him do any vehicle assault style missions.. as cool as they would be Smile

also if it could lead to kick red (usually the host) it could mean of some ill-intended people would join those games to kick the host for fun... and it would happen, as most people can't host, the game woud simply make everyone lose their connection and end the game... wich would suck and wouldn't let people get their code...

dealing with people who says you cheated your rank-xp is better than have them vote-kick you... most problems in a game can be dealt with by the red player anyway....

So you also have the problem that when a host leaves, the game ends? Cause my bro has that problem too but I don't. If the host leaves, I just get to control his units, just like when anyone else leaves.

Well when I host a game I try to explain everything important, but since the people who join my games rarely speak english (welcome to Garena Europe), so I can grow tired of it kinda fast. But some people did get the idea of saving and loading etc. from my instructions and one of them is actually already a pretty good medic Very Happy As the easily one of the best DotD players in Garena I feel it's my duty to help beginners, and I've been trying to be as nice as possible when hosting. Only once I accindently quit the game too early when my bro was still writing the code. He was kinda pissed off Rolling Eyes

it's not about the units, it's about the connection to the game... if the host leaves, the hosting has to be given to someone else who can host (isn't firewalled)... and if there is nobody that can host in the game, it will disconnect everyone... basic WC3 hosting...

Nah, seriously, I use the vista firewall (which is actually good) but still no problemo. Guess I have accepted that kind of connection when I configured this kinda stuff. Or maybe it's cause I use Garena, and I've set the firewall some other confs for Garena than regular Wc3.
Yeah I know the units have nothing to do with the problem, and used them just to show what happens in my case. But I agree kicking the host would be bad if it's true that most people can't host games.

Also here's an interesting aspect: My bro can host games, but when the host leaves, it's game over for him too. Actually when I think about it, this happened to me once too Confused

Software firewalls like the one in XP or Vista are easily auto-configured...
but hardware firewalls like routers are much more complicated to configure, you need to go into the device to open the ports...

most people don't want to have the trouble to go in there, so they simply don't go around to play with it and make sure it works... making them unable to host games and making most of the games end when the host leaves the games for whatever reason...
